Marvin Gaye sings American National Anthem

I usually hate when singers try to do their own rendition of the national anthem (you too?). But this somehow isn't a rendition, it is Marvin's own original song - so much so that you feel you can't even anticipate his next line even though you know the words.

Three wolves are better than one.

With this shirt, you can pull mad hot chicks and fly. But I bet you already knew that.

If you didn't, just read the customer reviews.

Prom Ruffles

Looking through the photos from yesterday's Golden Globes, I was struck by two overwhelming trends: 90's prom wear and attack of the ruffles.

90's prom wear:

Attack of the ruffles:

This was probably my favorite look of the night:

Shapes and Sizes

The January 14th Issue of V magazine, which, according to the New York Times, is "among the more progressive of American fashion magazines," will feature a spread of plus-sized models. Here are some of the shots.

Sandals 2010

After agreeing that gladiators are definitely on their way out we started to discuss what will be the next big sandal trend. In Buenos Aires we saw that the ankle bootie sandal was all the rage, but we weren't sure if this trend would really take off in the US. I was browsing the internet (what else is there to do during the last few days of vacation) and I saw some common threads. Here is what I'm thinking may be the new trends in summer footwear:

The Ankle Sandal
Not as extreme as the sandal bootie, but similar.
I happen to really like the first pair. I can see myself wearing them.

The Grecian Leather Sandal
Reminiscent of the gladiator, but more natural and less flashy.
I like the first two pairs a lot I think they would pretty much go with anything and work on anybody (unless you are super trendy and only wear black leather).

The Cage Sandal
This trend was popular in the winter only with a heal and I think its popularity will carrying into the summer. Also the lace-up sandal could be a trend on its own as well.

The Understated Ankle Sandal
These are a dialed down version of the ankle sandal a little less bold perhaps more versatile.
Thinking Kite will like the last pair.

What do you guys think? Am I on the right track? Do you like these trends or do you think they will flop?

Bad Boot?

So I know the biker boot thing is a little old now, but for some reason I'm still into the idea of them especially for when it gets warmer. Dresses, skirts, and shorts look so cute with them. I thought this pair might be ok because there are no buckles. They come in brown to. What do you think. Ditch the trend and look for something else? If you like do you prefer black or brown?

I need your thoughts. Also even if you don't agree (but I do want your opinion) I'm gonna get oxfords. Should I go for brown or like a lighter tan?

Collage-ing

Collages are fun. I kept a collage book in high school which combined magazine clippings, photographs, illustrations, quotes, lyrics, and a variety of other things. I recently decided I wanted to start making collages or mixed media art (although this is far too intense or serious a term to be applied to what I do) and dug out my old, I'll call it, scrapbook in order to get inspired. And surprisingly I was. Now, I can't wait to start a new one and I am calling upon more famous collage artists to inspire me further. Thought I would share some of these artists with you. Perhaps its not for everyone (although I know Kite will enjoy the art), perhaps some may view it as amateur or less than "real" art, but I love the stuff!

So here are sketchbook collages by various artists
(Particularly think Katie will appreciate these and perhaps try her hand at something similar)

Cristiana Couceiro
I like the use of color and transparency and old and new.

Paul Bergess
Very retro in a good way.

Jorge Chomorro
This guy is a creativity design and visual communication teacher --sounds like a awesome job to me. His stuff is the most abstract and the least traditional. I think its really cool.

Hope you guys like. Let me know.

P.S. I think I know why I don't post so often: It takes me FOREVER to put together a post. I want to include so much stuff and it takes me so long to pull together everything I like and then edit etc etc... from now on I'm going to strive for shorter posts more often. Fingers-crossed.
